Awakening with a smile at the beginning of the 60's when Clizia, an artist from Torino, conceived the Colonia Internazionale degli Artisti, where painters, sculptors, writers, musicians, dancers, poets, potters, could find space to both live and work

 

The first to join him were the painter Vanni Giuffré and the poet Giovanni Fronte

Followed by artists and crafts people from such places as Great Britain, France, Germany, Holland, Denmark, Sweden, Austria, Chekoslovakia and Italy, with their bare hands without water or electricity, they cleared the rubble restored houses, later installing a sewage system.

With no help from outside the village, respecting the medieval characteristics of the buildings, using bricks and stones reclaimed from the rubble
