BUSSANA VECCHIA - The History

Aspects of their diverse cultures crept into the spontaneous architecture of restoration, so that the post 60' Bussana Vecchia is unique in Italy and probably the world, giving rise to the interest of those who came to see it, either as tourists, film makers or journalist.

It came, under the Ministry of Culture and Monuments 1999, a paradox the work done by the artists defined as damage by the Tribunal in San Remo and the State is claiming damages on one hand and rent on the other, while insisting the refurbished buildings must be returned to their ruined state.

Each new house, studio or workshop, as it was restored, was a sourse of joy, providing an opportunity for the artists to meet and share the satisfation of the gradual bringing back to life of a community that had died out in the previous century.
