HEATHER ACKROYD was born in Huddersfield, Yorkshire in 1959, and in 1980 graduated with BA Hons in Sculpture and Performance ( Combined Arts ).

Since the 1980s, she has been active with a core group of performance practitioners, whose work can be described as ' a chemistry of the collective '.

From the physical anarchy of Impact Theatre Cooperative to the visionary work of Graeme Miller Company, she has consistently embraced work which is radical, multi-disciplinary and recognised in the foreground of national and international contemporary performance.

She has acted with the Royal Shakespeare Company in a rarely seen Strindberg play, " Easter " , directed by Katie Mitchell.

The collaboration with Daniel Harvey has continued her sculptural concerns with processes of growth and transformation, first exhibited in her early work whilst at college and later articulated in a major performance/installation work entitled " Uses of Enchantment " , presented at the Institute of Contemporary Arts, London in 1989.

 

 

DANIEL HARVEY was born in Dorking, Surrey ( England ) in 1959, graduated with BA Hons in Fine Art from Cardiff College of Art and with an MA from the Royal College of Art, London.

Working principally within sculpture between 1980 and 1992 he has exhibited extensively in England and Europe, having work in both public and private collections. Early sculptural works often involved found objects where nature had intervened, which were juxtaposed within intimate tableaux of implied narratives to do with transience, alchemy and decay.

He has also worked within film, on design, object making and special effects; notably for the British directors Derek Jarman and Peter Greenaway.
